Ingredients

  • 1 lb 450 g ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 packet taco seasoning or 2 tbsp homemade
  • 24 wonton wrappers or small tortillas cut into circles
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • ½ cup salsa
  • Optional toppings: sour cream guacamole, diced tomatoes, chopped green onions, sliced jalapeños

Method

  1. Preheat oven: Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin.
  2. Cook meat: In a skillet, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat. Add taco seasoning and ¼ cup water; simmer 2 minutes.
  3. Assemble layers: Place one wonton wrapper into each muffin cup. Add a spoonful of seasoned meat, a bit of salsa, and sprinkle of cheese. Top with a second wonton wrapper, more meat, and cheese.
  4. Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes until wrappers are crispy and cheese is melted.
  5. Serve: Cool slightly. Top with sour cream, guacamole, diced tomatoes, or your favorite taco toppings.

Notes

  • Swap ground beef for shredded chicken or black beans for a vegetarian option.
  • Use flour tortillas cut to size if you don’t have wonton wrappers.
  • These are great for meal prep; reheat in an air fryer or oven to keep them crisp.
